On 5th June, the “Symposium on Macromolecular Self-Assembly” was held in Minhang campus, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). Prof. Xinyuan Zhu, vice dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (SCCE), presided this meeting. Participants came from China and overseas, including Cambridge University, Georgia Institute of Technology, University College Dublin, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Nanjing Normal University, Tongji University, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, East China University of Science and Technology, etc.

As a host university, Prof. Jiesheng Chen, dean of SCCE, gave a welcome speech to all participants. Prof. Deyue Yan, Academician of CAS, presided the discussion sections with Prof. Qinghua Lu. Prof. Oren Scherman from Cambridge University, Prof. Zhiqun Lin, from Georgia Institute of Technology, and Prof. Wenxin Wang from University College Dublin made Keynote Speech, respectively. Prof. Yongfeng Zhou from SJTU, Prof. Jintao Zhu and Minqiang Zhu from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Prof Li Li from Nanjing Normal University, made the invited lectures. All of these presentations won the applause, and participants exchanged of views in a heated discussion.

Macromolecular self-assembly is an advanced research area in the current chemistry and materials science, which has become an overlapping frontier field involving in chemistry, materials and life science. After years of hard works, Shanghai Jiao Tong University had obtained the international reputation in this research field. Such an academic symposium promotes mutual understanding between domestic and foreign well-known colleges and universities in this field, providing good opportunities for further cooperation between the participants.
